When I think about reservation 'Poona Pact' agreement strikes my mind. Basically, it was an agreement signed in the presence of B.R.Ambedkar and Gandhi Ji , both revolutionaries of contemporary India. The highlight of this agreement was that it ensured the Dalits(low caste) get reserved seats in legislatures for equal representation and participation. The pact was signed in 1932, times have changed so have people and their lives. Reservation system was introduced in India mainly because of below mentioned reasons: •To curb historic repression. •To eradicate inequality/discrimination faced. •To stand by and promise right to equality as stated in the constitution of India. All these were the scenarios decades ago. But the current situation breaks my heart. In today's India general category have become Dalits in the real sense without the official 'certificate'.
